How the Metaverse will change our education system forever. Dinesh Punni

Immersive technologies are already part of our lives. It is no longer a reality that we expect to happen sometime in the future. It is already happening. AR and VR are part of today's reality, being used across multiple industries, and it has emerged outside the gaming and entertainment dimension. Specialist in XR, Metaverse, Mixed Reality, VR & AR, Dinesh Punni is part of the tech revolutions that will model the future of education. What do immersive technologies mean for us and our society?

I believe that immersive technologies (AR/VR) will shape our future society just like the internet, or social media did. There will be a lot of positives and opportunities but that will also come with negatives and risks, especially regarding addiction. Now it’s the time to create reasonable and sustainable guidelines and principles for this upcoming technology.

How are AR and VR used for business today? And what does the future of immersive realities offer as usability in business?

Immersive technologies provide a set of benefits that no other medium can do, which is to make you feel present. Let’s take education for example. You can be inside the human body to study it instead of reading about it. Also, they make collaboration much more efficient and better. And well, pretty much any industry needs collaboration. Imagine working on a car model, urban planning model, or a new fashion show. You can virtualize the meeting and meet with from all over the world while it feels like an in-person meeting. This not only saves a ton of money and frustration, but it also helps to save the planet.

You talk about XR, Metaverse, Mixed Reality, Virtual Reality, and Augmented Reality. Today, you teach people how to create their own XR applications, teaching them how to code and design, and also part of your activity is to help business on the fields with expert advice. We could say you are part of the tech revolution that will shape the future of education. What are the possibilities and opportunities these technologies will bring? How will these help everyday life?

Immersive technologies will create millions of new jobs over the next years and the opportunities are endless since XR can be applied anywhere. One particular use-case I'm excited to see more of is therapy, to treat phobias, anxiety, pain, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and much more. XR can help us to integrate technologies into our lives to make everyday tasks such as driving, working, and communicating easier and safer.
